Prior to 2005, U.S. 65 overlapped with U.S. 84 northward into Vidalia, Louisiana. U.S. 65 was subsequently truncated northward to Clayton and replaced with an extension of U.S. 425 south. U.S. 65 remained posted along U.S. 84 west until 2006. 06/12/04

The Natchez-Vidalia Bridge constitutes a pair of two lane cantilever spans. The narrower westbound bridge opened in October 1940. The eastbound bridge was completed in July 1988. Measuring 4,200 feet in length, the crossing provides 125 of vertical clearance above the Mississippi River channel.1 06/12/04
