Nationally it goes for 941 miles southeast to Fort Fisher, North Carolina. 12/18/11
The intersection between SR 3 and U.S. 421 was rebuilt as a part of a series of infrastructure improvements for the new Honda Manufacturing Plant to the northwest of town. To the east, the road becomes Michigan Avenue which heads toward Downtown Greensburg. 12/18/11

Northbound Main Street (U.S. 52 west & SR 3 north) at the intersection with 1st Street. Rare for Indiana, this street is a truck route for both U.S. 52 and SR 44. Like business routes, the truck route designation is merely a local thing and is meant to keep semis off of 2nd Street (SR 44 & U.S. 52 west) through Downtown Rushville. 12/18/11
One block north of 1st Street, SR 3 and U.S. 52 split off as U.S. 52 turns westward onto 2nd Street. 2nd Street also carries SR 44, a 90 mile highway that goes from SR 37 in Martinsville east through Franklin, Shelbyville, Rushville, Connersville and Liberty before leaving at the Ohio border. 12/18/11
