Interstate 435 U.S. 50 West
I-435/U.S. 50 travel through the city of Leawood to the Mission Road underpass. A two lane distributor roadway follows for Exits 77A/B in Overland Park. 06/19/15

Four interchanges line the Kansas City beltway in quick succession through Overland Park. The exits serve an array of business parks, retail and apartment complexes as I-435/U.S. 50 parallels College Boulevard, a six lane commercial arterial to the south. 06/19/15
The Exit 77 c/d roadway separates from the I-435 westbound mainline at the bridge over Indian Creek. Roe and Nall Avenues constitute arterials north from Town Center Plaza in Leawood to residential areas north of Roe and Nall Parks along Indian Creek. 06/19/15
A $9.5 million project replaced the 1970-built span for Roe Avenue across Interstate 435 and converted Exit 77A into a diverging diamond interchange (DDI). Construction ran from April 2014 to October 30, 2014 on what was the second DDI built in the state of Kansas.1 Heritage Park and Fox Hill Office Park are located to the immediate south of the exchange. 06/19/15
The I-435/U.S. 50 westbound mainline continues 1.25 miles to Metcalf Avenue. Metcalf Avenue is the former alignment of U.S. 69 leading north to U.S. 56/169 (63rd Street) in Merriam. It also carried U.S. 169 north from Martin City Road to U.S. 56 by 1980. 06/19/15
Motorists continuing west on the adjacent c/d roadway depart for Nall Avenue at a diamond interchange (Exit 77B). 06/19/15
Back to back diamond interchanges join I-435/U.S. 50 west with Metcalf Avenue and Antioch Road over the ensuing 1.5 miles. U.S. 69 meets the beltway further west along a freeway looping west from Metcalf Avenue to Interstate 35 in north Lenexa. 06/19/15
Metcalf Avenue forms a busy commercial arterial south from Exit 79 to the U.S. 69 freeway and north to the city center. 06/19/15
Two lanes depart from I-435/U.S. 50 west for Exit 79 to Metcalf Avenue. U.S. 69 rejoins Metcalf Avenue north from U.S. 56/169 to I-635 at Mission. Metcalf Avenue south leads motorists to the world headquarters campus of Sprint Corporation. 06/19/15
U.S. 50 appears for the first time along Interstate 435 west at this shield assembly after the Exit 79 gore point. 06/19/15
Antioch Road crosses paths with the beltway between Brookridge Country Club and Corporate Woods Office Park. Points of interest for Exit 80 include Cleveland Chiropractic College and Corporate Woods Founders Park. 06/19/15
Interstate 435/U.S. 50 west expand to six westbound lanes to Exit 80 with Antioch Road.
The diamond interchange with Antioch Road opened to traffic initially on December 21, 2006 for westbound motorists.2 06/19/15
A c/d roadway commences beyond the Antioch Road overpass for both the U.S. 69 freeway and Quivira Road. 142,000 vehicles per day were recorded on this segment of freeway in 2015. 06/19/15
Antioch Road parallels U.S. 69 south as a busy four to six lane arterial to 167th Street. North from Exit 80, the four lane boulevard heads to the city of Merriam and 47th Street on the Kansas City line. 06/19/15
Exit 81 slips underneath the Antioch Road entrance ramp as the two lane c/d roadway separates west to the cloverstack interchange with U.S. 69 (Overland Parkway). 10/06/21
The c/d roadway for Exit 81 was added as part of the $165 million upgrade of Interstate 435 at U.S. 69 from 2005 to 2008.3 06/19/15
Exit 82 consists of a slip ramp to the adjacent c/d roadway beyond the off-ramps to U.S. 69 (Overland Parkway), and ahead of the diamond interchange with Quivira Road. 06/19/15
The entrance ramp from Antioch Road west partitions for Interstate 435 west and the c/d roadway (Exit 81) to U.S. 69. Fully open to traffic on November 10, 2008,4 this configuration removed weaving traffic from the westbound mainline. 10/06/21
The beltway meets Interstate 35 at the Johnson County Gateway interchange in 2.5 miles. 10/06/21
U.S. 69 provides a direct route for Interstate 35 north to Kansas City. U.S. 69 makes a number of shifts from Overland Parkway to Riverside, Missouri along a combination of U.S. 56/169 and a second overlap with I-35. 10/06/21
Quivira Road is the last Overland Park exit from I-435 west. 10/06/21
Traffic partitions from the c/d roadway for U.S. 69 north to Kansas City. The succeeding loop ramp joins the suburban freeway through south Overland Park. U.S. 69 extends 78 miles south to Fort Scott as a limited access highway. 10/06/21
A flyover replaced the loop ramp from U.S. 69 south to I-435/U.S. 50 east as the signature element of the 2005-08 project. Subsequent work during the I-435/U.S. 69 Interchange Improvement Red Project added a southbound c/d roadway to U.S. 69 from 103rd Street to College Boulevard and 119th Street. 10/06/21
A slip ramp (Exit 82) connects with the adjacent c/d roadway for U.S. 69 to Quivira Road. 10/06/21
I-435/U.S. 50 advance west to cross the Lenexa city line at the Pflumm Road underpass preceding I-35. Phase 2 of the Johnson County Gateway project expanded I-435 to eight general travel lanes with auxiliary lanes from U.S. 69 to the west split with K-10. The $286 million phase broke ground on April 22, 2014.5 10/06/21
The Red Project also extended the collector distributor roadway network of I-435 west from U.S. 69 and Antioch Road to Quivira Road (Exit 82). Quivira Road expands into a six lane arterial as it connects the beltway with nearby Overland Park Regional Medical Center and Johnson County Community College. 10/31/16
A cloverstack interchange (Exit 83) joins I-435 and I-35 in one mile. I-35 ventures through the southwest suburbs of Olathe with U.S. 169 south and Gardner with U.S. 56 west as U.S. 50 accompanies the freeway to Ottawa and Emporia. 10/06/21
Exit 83 connects with Interstate 35 south to Wichita and north to Des Moines, Iowa. U.S. 56/169 overlap with the freeway north to Merriam. All substantial construction on Phase 2 of the Johnson Gateway Project was completed by December 31, 2016. 10/06/21
All traffic for I-35, U.S. 50 west and U.S. 56/169 departs in unison from I-435 west at Exit 83. Interstate 35 angles northeast between Lenexa and Overland Park to Merriam, Mission and Kansas City. 10/06/21
Phase 2 of the Johnson Gateway Project replaced all ramps between the two freeways except for the loop ramps from I-35 to the beltway. 10/06/21
Exit 1A connects Interstate 435 with adjacent industrial park areas including the Lackman Business Center, Mill Creek Business Park and Renner Commerce Center. 10/06/21
Exit 1A separates from I-435 westbound for Lackman Road. Right in and right out style ramps originally tied the westbound lanes in with 101st Terrace; these now connect with the roadway joining I-35 south with I-435 north and K-10 west. 10/06/21
Phase 3 of the Johnson Gateway Project will add a flyover from Interstate 35 north to I-435 west. 10/06/21
Future road work at Exit 1A will upgrade the exchange with Lackman Road into a SPUI. 10/06/21
K-10 branches west from Interstate 435 at a directional T interchange (Exit 1B). The 36.6 mile long highway constitutes a freeway west from Lenexa to Lawrence. The South Lawrence Trafficway was completed in Douglas County by Thanksgiving 2016. 10/06/21
Phase 3 construction planned for the Johnson County Gateway project will realign both the I-435 mainline and remaining ramps with K-10 not upgraded during Phase 2. A new c/d roadway will also further separate traffic originating from I-35 from merging onto I-435 directly ahead of Exit 1B. 10/06/21
Interstate 435 North
Interstate 435 runs north from K-10 to succeeding exits for 95th and 87th Streets in Lenexa. 10/06/21
Phase 3 of the Johnson County Gateway project will reconfigure Exit 2 from a parclo to a diamond interchange with distributor roadways to the south. 10/06/21
Exit 2 loops away from Interstate 435 north to 95th Street and Legler Road south into the Kansas Commerce Center. 10/06/21
Interstate 435 advances north to a diamond interchange (Exit 3) with 87th Street. 10/06/21
An 85 acre site to the southeast of forthcoming Exit 3 houses luxury apartments, an assisted living facility and 30 acres of retail. Development of the $210 million Sonoma Plaza got underway in Fall 2016.6 11/03/16
87th Street Parkway leads east from Exit 3 as a commercial arterial to Interstate 35 and U.S. 69 at Overland Park. 10/06/21
Exit 3 leaves I-435 north for W 87th Street. 87th Street Parkway west separates into a one way couplet through Lenexa City Center, a 200 acre mixed-use development. 10/06/21
Interstate 435 advances north two miles to Midland Drive with the city of Shawnee. 10/06/21
