Interstate 285 West
Two lanes separate from the c/d roadway for the parclo interchange (Exit 32) joining Interstate 285 with U.S. 23 (Buford Highway). 09/22/22
U.S. 23 constitutes an arterial route leading southwest from Doraville to Chamblee and northeast to Norcross. 09/22/22
Interstate 285 advances west to a directional cloverleaf interchange (Exits 31 B/A) with SR 141 (Peachtree Industrial Boulevard). Peachtree Industrial Boulevard comprises a freeway from I-285 northeastward to Peachtree Parkway outside Norcross. 09/22/22
Interstate 285 west passes under New Peachtree Road and a MARTA line a half mile from Exits 31 B/A with SR 141 (Peachtree Industrial Boulevard). SR 141 travels 27.89 miles overall from the Buckhead section of Atlanta northeast to SR 9 (Atlanta Highway) near Cumming. 09/22/22

Exit 31 B leaves Interstate 285 west for SR 141 (Peachtree Industrial Boulevard) north. The freeway along SR 141 north between Dunwoody and Doraville was completed by late 1970. 09/22/22
Exit 31 A loops onto SR 141 (Peachtree Industrial Boulevard) south to Chamblee. SR 141 south to U.S. 19 (Peachtree Road) in Atlanta was historically SR 13W. SR 13W paralleled the south side of the Perimeter Highway from nearby to connect with SR 13 along Buford Highway. 09/22/22
Curving westward, the succeeding exit along the Interstate 285 outer loop is a split diamond interchange (Exit 30) with three multi lane boulevards joining the cities of Chamblee and Dunwoody. 09/22/22
West from Dunwoody, Interstate 285 crosses into Fulton County and the city of Sandy Springs in 3.5 miles at Peachtree Dunwoody Road / Exit 28. 09/22/22
The auxiliary lane added from SR 141 drops for Exit 30 and Cotillion Drive, the north side frontage road linking I-285 with Peachtree Road, Shallowford Road and Chamblee Dunwoody Road. Exit 30 serves an array of apartment complexes, retail and business parks. 09/22/22

Ashford-Dunwoody Road meets I-285 at Exit 29 in 1.25 miles by Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody. Exit 27 departs one mile further, but the Transform 285/400 project, underway from February 2017 to 2024, replaced the current ramp system with an extended c/d roadway starting at Ashford Dunwoody Road. 09/22/22
Lowering to cross the North Fork of Nancy Creek, high rises from Perimeter Center Office Park and Concourse Parkway come into view as Interstate 285 progresses west toward the city of Sandy Springs. Sandy Springs incorporated in 2005, becoming the seventh largest city in Georgia with over 85,000 residents at the time. 09/22/22
The Transform 285/400 project combined Exit 28 for Peachtree-Dunwoody Road and the Perimeter Center and Exit 27 for U.S. 19/SR 400 (Turner Macdonald Parkway) to use the same c/d roadway. 09/22/22
A half diamond interchange (Exit 28) provides access from I-285 westbound for Peachtree Dunwoody Road north to the Perimeter Center and south to Northside Hospital. SR 400 parallels the boulevard to the west as along a freeway south to Buckhead in Atlanta and north 29 miles to Cumming. 09/22/22

$6 million in construction reconfigured Exit 29 with Ashford-Dunwoody Road from a standard diamond into a diverging diamond interchange (DDI). The first DDI in the state opened to traffic in June 2012.1 09/22/22
Exits 27/28 were relocated to depart from the Perimeter Highway outer loop within the SPUI at Ashford Dunwoody Road. A long distributor roadway extends west to the ramps for SR 400 south to Atlanta and U.S. 19/SR 400 north to Roswell, Alpharetta and Cumming. 09/22/22
Tolls on SR 400 south to Buckhead, Atlanta and I-85 were lifted on November 22, 2013. U.S. 19 travels 52 miles north from Exit 28 to the Lumpkin County seat of Dahlonega. 09/22/22
As part of the Transform 285/400 project, a new flyover replaced the left side entrance ramp from I-285 west to SR 400 south, while the previously northbound roadway of SR 400 was rebuilt as a c/d roadway to handle oncoming traffic from the Perimeter Highway. 09/22/22
U.S. 19 dog legs west from SR 400 to join Roswell Road south from Sandy Springs to Atlanta at East Chastain Park and North Buckhead. SR 9 (Roswell Road) north represents the pre-North Fulton Expressway alignment of U.S. 19. 09/22/22

Interstate 285 West U.S. 19 South
The Transform 285/400 project reconfigured Exit 25 to use a c/d roadway west to the commercialized diamond interchange with U.S. 19/SR 9 (Roswell Road) south and SR 9 north. 09/22/22
The U.S. 19 mainline combines with Interstate 285 west at the half diamond interchange (Exit 26 from I-285 east) with Glenridge Drive. 09/22/22
U.S. 19 shifted eastward from Roswell Road onto the North Fulton Expressway (SR 400) as approved by AASHTO on November 14, 1980. 09/22/22
Interstate 285 remains within the city of Sandy Springs to Exit 22 with New Northside Drive, located 3.5 miles to the west. 09/22/22
Interstate 285 West
A c/d roadway was built west from Glenridge Drive to Exit 24 for Riverside Drive. Riverside Drive meanders through residential areas of west Sandy Springs north from Mt. Vernon Highway to Dalrymple Road. 09/22/22

Riverside Drive derives its name from the adjacent Chattahoochee River. The five lane boulevard intersects Johnson Ferry Road 2.1 miles to the north. Johnson Ferry Road leads north across the river to the Chattahoochee Plantation and Mt. Bethel communities. 07/11/10
A $5.6 million design/build project reconfigured the diamond interchange (Exit 24) with Riverside Drive (CR 209) into a dogbone interchange with single lane roundabouts. Work ran from February 1, 2016 to November 1, 2016, with landscaping continuing into 2017.2 09/22/22

Turning more southerly from Interstate 75, the Perimeter Highway runs along the east side of the Smyrna city limits to Paces Ferry Road / Exit 18 in five miles. 09/22/22
An array of offices and Powers Ferry Village surround the forthcoming split diamond interchange (Exit 22) with New Northside and Northside Drives. 09/22/22
Exit 22 departs Interstate 285 west for New Northside Drive, a loop east from Northside Drive. Northside Drive serves residential areas north and south, while Powers Ferry Road extends west as a south side frontage road for the Atlanta Beltway. 09/22/22
I-285 converges with Interstate 75 at a cloverstack interchange (Exit 20) 1.75 miles west of the Northside Drive over crossing. 09/22/22
Beinning north from Interstate 285, the Northwest Corridor Express Lanes extends 29.7 miles along I-75 north to I-575, and along I-575 to Sixes Road. 09/22/22
The Northwest Corridor Express Lanes were constructed from November 2013 to September 8, 2018. 09/22/22
West from the Northside Drive entrance ramp, the outer loop of I-285 expands to six lanes ahead of Exit 20 with Interstate 75. 09/22/22
Interstate 285 west crosses the Chattahoochee River into Cobb County. 09/22/22
Interstate 75 represents a major commuter route for metro Atlanta and a long-distance route between the upper Midwest and Florida. The freeway serves the Smyrna, Marietta, and Kennesaw areas northwest of Interstate 285. 09/22/22
The succeeding exits south of Interstate 75 join I-285 with the city of Smyrna and census designated place of Vinings. 09/22/22
Exit 20 forms a c/d roadway for not only Interstate 75, but also parallel U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway). U.S. 41 parallels I-75 west from the Paces neighborhood in Atlanta to Truist Park (home of the Atlanta Braves MLB franchise) and Dobbins Air Reserve Base. 09/22/22
Exit 20 separates with three lanes for I-75 north 98 miles to Chattanooga, I-75 south ten miles to Downtown Atlanta, and U.S. 41 through east Smyrna. 09/22/22
Flyovers connect Interstate 285 with the Northwest Corridor Express Lanes along I-75. 09/22/22
Two lanes lead north to Interstate 75 for Marietta and I-575 to Canton. 09/22/22
Continuing along the northbound ramp to Interstate 75, Exit 20 includes the connection to Windy Hill Road, a commercial arterial between U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway) in Marieta and Powers Ferry Road. 09/22/22
A left side ramp departs from the Exit 20 c/d roadway for Interstate 75 south. I-75 and U.S. 41 both head south into the Whitewater Creek neighborhood of northwest Atlanta. 08/07/13
A slip ramp provides access to I-285 westbound from the c/d roadway from Exit 20 to the diamond interchange with U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway). Opened for the 2017 Major League Baseball season, Truist Park lies in the northwest quadrant of the I-75/285 exchange. U.S. 41 (Cobb Parkway) serves a myriad of retail nearby, anchored by Cumberland Mall and Cobb Galleria Centre. 08/07/13
