The Miami skyline comes into view as Interstate 95 formally enters the city limits between NW 81st and NW 79th Streets. 03/04/14
Exit 6 B connects Interstate 95 south with NW 69th Street west to U.S. 441 (NW 7th Street) at a half diamond interchange. 03/04/14
Exit 6 A quickly follows Exit 6 B with NW 62nd Street for Little Haiti and Lemon City. 03/04/14
NW 69th Street is discontinuous across Interstate 95. The residential street stems west from Exit 6 B to Miami Northwestern High School at NW 10th Avenue. U.S. 441 remains parallel just to the west en route to end point at U.S. 41 (SW 8th Street). 03/04/14
Entering the diamond interchange (Exit 6 A) with NW 62nd Street / Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard on I-95 south. NW 62nd Street runs west to Liberty City and unincorporated Miami-Dade County ahead of E 9th Street in Hialeah. 03/04/14
I-95 next enters the 36th Street Interchange (Exit 4) with Interstate 195 east to Miami Beach and SR 112 (Airport Expressway) west to Miami International Airport (MIA). 03/04/14
The freeway kinks southwest from NW 62nd Avenue to pass over SR 944 (NW 54th Street). Ramps to NW 54th Street were removed in 1976. 03/04/14
SR 112 runs 9.86 miles overall from Miami International Airport and SR 953 (NW 42nd Avenue) east to SR A1A (Indian Creek Drive / Collins Avenue) in Miami Beach. SR 122 doubles as Interstate 195 east from I-95 across Julia Tuttle Causeway to SR 907 (Alton Road). 03/04/14
All traffic to both Interstate 195 east and SR 112 west leaves I-95 south in unison at a symmetrical stack interchange (Exit 4). 03/04/14
Interstate 195 travels 4.42 miles east across Biscayne Bay to become Arthur Godfrey Road, the at-grade continuation of SR 112 to Collins Avenue (SR A1A north). I-95 continues with four overall lanes toward Downtown. 03/04/14
Exit 4 partitions into I-195 east and SR 112 west. The two routes were joined in December 1961, completing the freeway link between MIA Airport and Miami Beach. 03/04/14
Traffic from I-195 west and SR 112 (Airport Expressway) add two southbound auxiliary lanes along Interstate 95. 09/30/17
The 95 Express Lanes end, as I-95 advances south with six lanes to the Midtown Interchange (Exits 3 A/2 D) with Interstate 395 east and SR 836 (Dolphin Expressway) west. 09/30/17
The Midtown Interchange connects I-95 south with I-395 east to SR A1A (MacArthur Causeway) and SR 887 (PortMiami Tunnel). Oversized trucks headed to Port Miami must use SR 886 (Port Boulevard) via Exit 3 B to 5th Street in lieu of the PortMiami Tunnel. 09/30/17
Interstate 95 (North South Expressway) replaced NW 6th Avenue through the Wynwood neighborhood when it was completed here in 1968. 09/30/17
Exit 3 A departs next for the Dolphin Expressway west to Miami International Airport (MIA) and Sweetwater. SR 836 is a major tollway that parallels the original planned corridor for I-75, had it been built along U.S. 41 through the Everglades instead of Alligator Alley. SR 836, along with I-395, is the only expressway that directly links Florida's Turnpike (SR 821), Palmetto Expressway (SR 826), I-95 and Miami Beach. 09/30/17
Exit 3 A departs for SR 836 (Dolphin Expressway) west to Sweetwater. SR 836 also serves many incorporated and unincorporated suburbs of Miami by connecting them to Downtown and Miami Beach. This includes places such as West Miami, Fontainebleau, Dolphin Mall and Westwood Lakes. 09/30/17
Exit 3 A for the Dolphin Expressway connects with parallel NW 14th Street west to Jackson Memorial Hospital. 05/07/06
The Midtown Interchange constitutes a four level exchange. It opened along with I-395 east and SR 836 west in late 1969. 09/30/17
Sign changes made for Exit 2 D in 2014 added SR 887 for the PortMiami Tunnel. The underwater crossing opened to traffic on August 4, 2014, linking the inside lanes of the Mac Arthur Causeway with the port facilities and cruise ship docks on Dodge Island. I-395 transitions into SR A1A (Mac Arthur Causeway) east to the Art Deco District of Miami Beach. 09/30/17
Pass under the I-395/SR 836 mainline and associated flyovers, southbound Interstate 95 continues to Downtown with three overall lanes. 04/01/14
Departing from within the systems interchange at the Dolphin Expressway, Exit 3 B connects I-95 south with NW 8th Street east to American Airlines Arena (home of the NBA Miami Heat) and Port Miami (via SR 886). NW 8th Street west previously served interests to the former Orange Bowl, which was demolished in 2008 to make way for Marlins Park, the venue opened in 2012 for the Miami Marlins MLB team. 04/01/14

Exits 2 C, 2 A and 1 B depart within the ensuing quarter mile at the three wye interchange with the Downtown Distributor (U.S. 1/SR 970). SR 970 is 0.56 mile long elevated freeway connecting I-95 with the Miami central business district. Left side ramps join SR 970 east to Miami Avenue and U.S. 1 on Biscayne Boulevard. 03/21/20
Viaducts carry Interstate 95 along the western fringe of Downtown Miami southward to the Miami River. 03/21/20
Exit 1 B to U.S. 41 departs prior to Exits 2 C/2 A for SR 970 onto a long collector roadway across the Miami River to SW 7th and 8th Streets. 03/21/20
U.S. 41 partitions along the of couplet SW 7th and 8th Streets east to the end point at Brickell Avenue (old U.S. 1) and west to Little Havana, Shenandoah and SR 9 (SW 27th Street). 03/21/20
An entrance ramp from NW 3rd Court at NW 2nd Street separates into ramps for both I-95 south and U.S. 41 (SW 7th Street) west. 03/21/20
Interstate 95 south reaches its penultimate exit with the Downtown Distributor (U.S. 1) east. Exits 2 C/2 A partition onto the respective ramps from SR 970 to Miami Avenue and SE 3rd Street. U.S. 1 follows Biscayne Boulevard north from Downtown to Omni and Edgewater. 03/21/20

U.S. 1 south / SR 970 west ties into I-95 south from a left side entrance ramp at the Miami River. 03/21/20
Crossing the Miami River, the second to last shield for Interstate 95 south appears. 03/21/20, 04/01/14
Exit 1 B finally touches down at SW 4th Avenue south at U.S. 41 (SW 7th Street) west. U.S. 41 runs west to Coral Gables, West Miami and Sweetwater before exiting the Miami area to ply across the Everglades to Naples. 05/07/06
Weaving through the parclo interchange (Exit 1 B) with U.S. 41, I-95/U.S. 1 maintains six overall lanes. 09/30/17
The final exit from Interstate 95 south joins the freeway with the tolled Rickenbacker Causeway east to Key Biscayne. 03/21/20
The last shield for I-95 south precedes the half diamond interchange (Exit 1 A) with SW 25th Road and Rickenbacker Causeway. Rickenbacker Causeway links I-95 with Virginia Key, Miami Seaquarium, Key Biscayne Park and other attractions. Adjacent Miami Avenue connects with the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science and the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. 03/21/20
Exit 1 A departs for SW 25th and 26th Roads after I-95 crosses over SW 1st Avenue and the Miami Metrorail transit line.
Numbered city streets in this section of Miami shift from Street suffixes to Road suffixes since the grid pattern is angled northwest to southeast between Vizcaya Gardens and SW 11th Street. The southwest to northeast streets use Avenu" suffixes. 09/30/17
Rickenbacker Causeway south also leads to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. This park is part of the barrier island system that extends north-south along the eastern coast of Florida, and it is named for the late newspaper editor who championed a state park on the southern end of Key Biscayne. The park offers tours of its scenic Cape Florida Lighthouse; the ocean and surrounding vistas can be seen for miles on a clear day from on top of the lighthouse. 03/26/06
SW 26th Road doubles as State Road 913 for 0.37 miles between I-95 at Exit 1A and the toll plaza for Rickenbacker Causeway. The remainder of the route is locally maintained or a part of unsigned County Road 913. 03/21/20
The final half mile of Interstate 95 south takes the freeway over SW 25th and 26th Roads to Brickell Avenue (former U.S. 1). 03/21/20
Speeds reduce to 45 miles per hour as Interstate 95 enters the wye interchange with Brickell Avenue and the continuation of U.S. 1 south along Dixie Highway. 03/21/20
The longest north to south route in the Interstate system concludes as U.S. 1 emerges along Dixie Highway. 03/21/20
U.S. 1 (Dixie Highway) progresses southwest through Coconut Grove in Miami to Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Homestead and ultimately Key West. 03/21/20
