Originally a part of Interstate 40, Business Loop I-40 was constructed between 1957 and 1962.1 Fully closed on November 17, 2018, construction rebuilt Business Loop I-40 east from Exit 188 into Downtown. The freeway reopened as Salem Parkway on February 2, 2020.2
