Interstate 30 East
Interstate 30 begins via a wye interchange from IH 20 ahead of the Tarrant County line west of Fort Worth. The IH 20 frontage road system continues along IH 30 into western Fort Worth. 10/19/03
IH 30, and IH 20 to the west, replaced U.S. 80 as the main route through west Texas into Dallas-Forth Worth. While the frontage roads often represent the original U.S. 80, at times the alignment peels off onto its own. Such is the case with Spur 580, which follows old U.S. 80 through the Westland section of Fort Worth and Westover Hills. 10/19/03
The right lane departs IH 30 east for Spur 580 (Exit 2), leaving the freeway with just four lanes to IH 820. Spur 580 comprises a divided highway east to IH 820, and a commercialized arterial east into Western Hills, Fort Worth. 10/19/03
Spur 580 follows Camp Bowie West 5.41 miles east to U.S. 377. Originally U.S. 80/ 377 followed Camp Bowie Boulevard to 7th Street and the Fort Worth central business district. 10/19/03
Exit 3 joins IH 30 with Chapel Creek Boulevard at the resumption of freeway frontage roads in west Fort Worth. The frontage roads provide connections to FM 2871 (Longvue Avenue) south. 10/19/03
One quarter mile west of the diamond interchange (Exit 3) with Chapel Creek Boulevard. Chapel Creek Boulevard leads north from Spur 580 in Westland, Fort Worth to White Settlement Road. 10/19/03
Exit 3 departs IH 30 for the West Freeway frontage road and Chapel Creek Boulevard. FM 2871 (Longvue Avenue) stems south from nearby to IH 20 (Exit 426) and U.S. 377 (Benbrook Boulevard) at Dutch Branch Park in southwest Fort Worth. 10/19/03
Departing the freeway next are Exits 5A to south Alemeda Street and 5B to Interstate 820. Alemeda Street heads south to Spur 580 and Chapin Road. 10/19/03
FM 2871 spans IH 30 just ahead of Exit 5A to Alemeda Street. Alemeda Street continues north from the freeway to Westpoint Boulevard and Academy Boulevard, arterials serving residential areas west of IH 820. 10/19/03
Exit 5A leaves IH 30 eastbound just ahead of the systems interchange with IH 820. Typical for Dallas-Fort Worth area three digit Interstates, no control cities are used Exits 5B/C. 10/19/03
IH 820 travels north to White Settlement and Lake Worth before turning eastward to Samson Park and Blue Mound. 10/19/03
North from Exit 5B, IH 820 provides connections with IH 35W north to Argyle, Denton, and Oklahoma City. 10/19/03
Exit 5C follows for IH 820 south to Benbrook, Edgecliff (via IH 20 east), and IH 35W south to Burleson and Alvarado. IH 820 represents roughly three quarters of the Fort Worth beltway, with IH 20 following the southern leg of the loop. 10/19/03
Interstate 30 travels along the lowest level of four level interchange with IH 820. 10/19/03
IH 30 next meets Exit 6 with Las Vegas Trail. The frontage road system resumes east of the Dale Lane overpass to Las Vegas Trail south to SS 580 and north to White Settlement. 10/19/03
Las Vegas Trail extends north to Lake Worth in Wildwood Park, just beyond IH 820 at Exit 6. The succeeding exits join IH 30 with Cherry Lane, SH 183 (Alta Mere Drive) and Spur 341 north. 10/19/03
Spur 341 (Lockheed Boulevard) stems 1.94 miles north along the west side of Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB) Forth Worth via Exit 7B. 10/19/03
Cherry Lane extends Williams Road north from Spur 580 and Benbrook through west Fort Worth to IH 30. The roadway continues northward into White Settlement. 10/19/03
Exit 7B departs for the IH 30 frontage road ahead of SS 341 north to NAS JRB Fort Worth and SH 183 (Alta Mere Drive). 10/19/03
The c/d roadway partitions ahead of the trumpet interchange with SS 341 north and SH 183 (Alta Mere Drive). SH 183 arcs northwest from IH 20 via Southwest Boulevard through Benbrook and north onto Alta Mere Drive to Westworth. 10/19/03
SS 341 comprises a controlled access route between Exit 7B and White Settlement Road. 10/19/03
SH 183 angles northeast from NAS Fort Worth JRB and Westworth Village to River Oaks and north Dallas. Further east, the state highway joins the busy Airport Freeway. 10/19/03
Ridgmar Mall lies between parallel SH 183 and Green Oaks Road, a local arterial leading south from SH 183 to Lackland Road and North Z. Boaz Park. 10/19/03
The ensuing off-ramp (Exit 8B) connects IH 30 with Ridgemar Boulevard north and Ridgelea Avenue south. 10/19/03
Exit 8B joins adjacent Calmont Avenue ahead of Ridglea Avenue / Boulevard. Ridgemar Boulevard meanders northward between several apartment complexes to the Ridgemar community. Ridgelea Avenue extends southward to U.S. 377 (Camp Bowie Boulevard) at Bernie Anderson Avenue. 10/19/03
Forthcoming Bryant-Irvin Road leads south from Exit 9A through southwest Fort Worth and the east Benbrook vicinity. 10/19/03
Bryant-Irvin Road ends at Guilford Street, residential street, on the north side of IH 30. Southward the arterial heads 6.5 miles to Dirk Road near Longhorn Park on Benbrook Lake. 10/19/03
Exit 9B ascends onto Calmont Avenue ahead of Horne Street and Camp Bowie Boulevard. Camp Bowie Boulevard carries U.S. 377 northeast from SS 580 and the Weatherford Traffic Circle in west Fort Worth to IH 30 east. Camp Bowie Boulevard continues northeast as an unnumbered arterial toward the Will Rogers Memorial Center and University Drive west of Downtown. 10/19/03
Interstate 30 passes over Camp Bowie Boulevard three quarters of a mile west of the diamond interchange (Exit 10) with Hulen Street. U.S. 377 combines with the freeway east to IH 35W. 10/19/03
Interstate 30 East U.S. 377 North
IH 30 eastbound expands with two lanes east from U.S. 377 (Camp Bowie Boulevard) to Exit 10 for Hulen Street. Hulen Street provides connections with Camp Bowie Boulevard to the north and Vickery Boulevard to the south. 10/19/03
Hulen Street leads southward 0.8 miles to a viaduct over the Union Pacific Railroad yard and 3.7 miles to IH 20 by Hulen Mall in south Fort Worth. Northward the street ends at Crestline Road. 10/19/03
A diamond interchange (Exit 11) joins IH 30/U.S. 377 with Montgomery Street in a half mile. Montgomery Street stems north from Vickery Boulevard to the Will Rogers Memorial Center 10/19/03
IH 30 east & U.S. 377 north pass over Clover Lane just ahead of Montgomery Street. Exit 12A follows for University Drive at Vickery Boulevard and Fort Worth Botanic Garden. 10/19/03
Montgomery Street runs north to Camp Bowie Boulevard and 7th Street and south to Chisholm Trail Parkway (SH 121). University Drive parallels a half mile to the east en route to the Will Rogers Memorial Center, Rockwood Park and SH 199 (Jacksboro Highway). 10/19/03
Exit 12A departs IH 30 at the Montgomery Street overpass for University Drive. Southward, University Drive crosses the Clear Fork of the Trinity River to Forest Park and Texas Christian University (TCU). 10/19/03
Exit 12A partitions into separate ramps for University Drive south to TCU and Fort Worth Zoo and north to Trinity Park, the Kimball Art Museum and other cultural attractions. 10/19/03
Flyovers link IH 30/U.S. 377 with Rosedale Street east and from Rosedale Street west at Exit 12B. Rosedale Street heads east from Forest Park Boulevard to Medical City Fort Worth. 10/19/03
IH 30 east & U.S. 377 north separate with Exit 12B to Rosedale Street over the Trinity River Clear Branch. Rosedale Street continues eastward two miles to U.S. 277 Business (Main Street) and 2.25 miles to IH 35W & U.S. 287. 10/19/03
Exit 12C joins IH 30/U.S. 377 with Forest Park Boulevard north beside the merge with Chisholm Trail Parkway (SR 121). Chisholm Trail Parkway (Southwest Parkway) is a six lane tollway leading southwest from IH 30 to U.S. 67 at Cleburne. Work on the $944 million project ran from late 2007 to 2011.1 10/19/03
Exit 13 leaves IH 30 east for Summit Avenue and SH 199 (Henderson Street). SH 199 begins at the freeway and heads northwest through the west central business district. The state highway travels 53.25 miles overall between Fort Worth and SH 59 at Jacksboro.2 10/19/03
The ramp for Cherry Street and Lancaster Avenue to Downtown Fort Worth was relocated to Exit 13 during construction to build the exchange with Chisholm Trail Parkway. Cherry Street spurs northward to 5th Street and City Hall. Lancaster Avenue (historic U.S. 80) straddles the south side of Downtown by Fort Worth Convention Center and Water Gardens. 10/19/03
IH 30 proceeds 0.75 miles east of the Summit Avenue overpass to IH 35W. U.S. 377 splits with IH 30 east for IH 35W north to Belknap Street. IH 35W follows the North Freeway toward Haslet and Denton and the South Freeway toward Burleson and Cleburne. 10/19/03
Interstate 30 passes south of Downtown Fort Worth along a 2002-built elevated roadway adjacent to the Union Pacific Railroad. The city was founded in 1849 as an Army outpost. 10/19/03
U.S. 377 joins Interstate 35W north one mile to the interchange with SH 121 (Airport Freeway). U.S. 377 follows surface streets though northeast Fort Worth, Haltom City, Watauga and Keller. 10/19/03
Exit 15A departs for IH 35W south to Burleson and Waco (via IH 35). IH 35W travels five miles south to IH 20 near Edgecliff and 13 miles to Burleson and the Johnson County line. 10/19/03
Opened October 25, 1931, the Texas and Pacific Terminal Complex rises along the north side of IH 30. Passenger service at the building declined following completion of IH 30 in 1958, and the passenger rail station ceased operations in 1967. Restoration of the building followed in 1999 and passenger service returned in 2001 via Trinity Railway Express.3 10/19/03
Entering the systems interchange with IH 35W on IH 30 eastbound. U.S. 287 follows IH 35W northward between Exit 52 (SS 580) and Exit 60 (U.S. 81) in Fort Worth. 10/19/03
