U.S. 60 West U.S. 87 South
U.S. 60/87 (Pierce Street) overlap two blocks east of U.S. 287 (Taylor Street) south to their convergence beyond SE 11th Avenue. SE 10th Avenue is part of SL 395 east from Pierce Street 2.20 miles to IH 40. 05/05/12
SE 11th Avenue heads west from U.S. 60/87 (Pierce Street) toward Ellwood Park and the Elizabeth community. 04/24/17

With five southbound lanes, U.S. 60/87-287 enter the turbine interchange with Interstate 40 west to Albuquerque and east to Oklahoma City. IH 40 was completed across Amarillo by 1970. U.S. 66 shifted onto the freeway at that time. 04/24/17
U.S. 287 parts ways with U.S. 60 west / U.S. 87 south as IH 27 begins. U.S. 287 overlays IH 40 east for nearly eight miles before turning southeast toward Claude and ultimately Fort Worth. 04/24/17
Interstate 27 U.S. 87 South U.S. 60 West
The exchange joining IH 27 with IH 40 and U.S. 60-87-287 was reconstructed from 1998 to 2001. IH 27 was lowered to grade level during the project. 04/24/17
Construction underway from January 2017 to Spring 2019 added a flyover from IH 40 east onto IH 27 southbound. The new ramp replaced an at-grade connection between the two freeways. 04/24/17
Exit 123 A was relocated below the direct connect flyover linking IH 40 east with IH 27 south. The slip ramp joins adjacent Canyon Drive south ahead of SE 26th Avenue. 26th Avenue travels five blocks west to Memorial Park by Amarillo College. 05/05/12
Expanded during 2018/19 road work, the viaduct taking IH 27 south across SE 26th Avenue precedes Exit 122 C for 34th Avenue and Tyler Street. 05/05/12
Interstate 27 crosses into Randall County at SE 29th Avenue. 04/24/17
Removed with the addition of the flyover from IH 40 eastbound, the first confirming marker for Interstate 27 previously stood ahead of the slip ramp (Exit 122 C) for SW 34th Avenue. 04/24/17
34th Avenue travels west from Tyler Street to the Wolflin Estates area and east across a viaduct over the BNSF Railroad yard toward the Tradewind Air Park community. 04/24/17
IH 27 drops below 34th Avenue and Tyler Street on the curve west over 36th Avenue (old U.S. 60-87). A three phase project started in September 2021 reconstructed the center median barrier, improved lighting and reconfigured the ramps between Washington and Georgia Streets.1 04/24/17
A diamond interchange (Exit 122 B) follows with Washington Street and FM 1541 south. FM 1541 takes a linear route 16.34 miles south from Amarillo to IH 27 at Exit 103. The highway formerly extended further to U.S. 87 at Happy. 04/24/17
Turning more southwesterly, the Canyon Drive frontage road system for IH 27/U.S. 60-87 becomes more commercial. Exit 121 B leaves for Hawthorne Drive and Austin Street, residential streets north through the Paramount community. 04/24/17
Georgia Street constitutes a five lane commercial boulevard north toward IH 40 and south from Exit 121 A to 46th Avenue. Points of interest for Exit 121 A include the Randall County Annex and the Texas Panhandle War Memorial. 04/24/17

Exit 120 B serves the commercial corridor along SW 45th Avenue and the Ridgecrest community. 04/24/17
The ensuing slip ramp (Exit 120 A) joins Canyon Drive south at Republic Avenue west. 04/24/17
A short auxiliary lane opens along IH 27-U.S. 60/87 south from SW 45th Avenue to Exit 120 B. The speed limit increases from 55 to 60 miles per hour along the southbound freeway at Washington Street. 04/24/17
Republic Avenue angles northwest from Exit 120 A to SW 47th Avenue through the Western Plateau community. 04/24/17
Exit 119 B follows in quick succession for Western Street north of SW 58th Avenue. 58th Avenue extends Hillside Road east to The Shores and Southlawn neighborhoods to FM 1541 (Washington Street). 04/24/17
Western Avenue forms a five lane boulevard south from SW 58th Avenue to the Scotsman and City View Estates communities and Loop 335. 04/24/17
A five lane boulevard, Hillside Road leads west from the commercial strip along Canyon Drive between the Glendale and Westway communities. The road extends to the Town Square development and SL 335 in west Amarillo. 04/24/17
IH 27 south reduces to two lanes at the diamond interchange (Exit 119A) with Hillside Road. Preliminary engineering for an 8.8 mile long expansion project along IH 27 from Western Street to Exit 110 at Canyon got underway in Spring 2019.2 04/24/17
Industrial businesses line the Canyon Drive frontage road system south to Bell Street. The speed limit increases to 75 miles per hour beyond Exit 117. 04/24/17
Bell Street travels north from the diamond interchange (Exit 117) with IH 27 to the Meadow and Glenwood neighborhoods and Southwest Park. 04/24/17
Exit 117 joins Canyon Drive ahead of Arden Road west. Arden Road stems west to the Glen Arden and Westover Park neighborhoods. Bell Street south continues to Loop 335 and Sundown Lane outside the Amarillo city limits. 04/24/17
SL 335 overlays Hollywood Road west to Soncy Road north and east to Western Street. Construction underway from 2016 to 2019 upgraded the loop from Bell Street to FM 1541 from a two lane road into a four lane freeway with frontage roads. The Amarillo Loop Project outlines converting all 40 miles of SL 335 into a limited access highway.3 04/24/17
A diamond interchange (Exit 116) connects with SL 335 west to the Westover Village community and east to Randall High School and the Hollywood neighborhood. Construction of SL 335 Segment B-1 partially upgraded this exchange by late 2022. Flyovers and a grade separation for SL 335 remain planned.3 04/24/17
IH 27/U.S. 60-87 leave the Amarillo city limits just south of Loop 335. 05/05/12
Sundown Lane meets the freeway at a diamond interchange (Exit 115) in a half mile. The minor collector heads west to FM 2590 and east to Western Street at the Sundown Acres community. 04/24/17
U.S. 60 overlaps with IH 27 south for 26.37 miles. 04/24/17
The Randall County seat of Canyon lies ten miles to the south via IH 27 and U.S. 60 west. Lubbock is 105 miles further. 04/24/17
Sundown Lane spans IH 27 on an overpass built in 1986. Access roads link the frontage road system with Sundown Lane at Exit 115. 04/24/17
The succeeding exit along IH 27/U.S. 60-87 south is the diamond interchange for McCormick Road. 04/24/17
McCormick Road runs west to FM 2590 and east to FM 1541 through a mixture of agricultural areas, industrial businesses and rural homesteads. 04/24/17
FM 2219 commences a 10.27 mile long route west from upcoming Exit 112 to FM 168 south at Sampson Road. 04/24/17

Exit 112 joins the Canyon Drive frontage road south to an access road for FM 2219 west and Lair Road east to the Rockwell Place community and Bell Street. 04/24/17
Rockwell Road converges with Interstate 27 in a half mile between the Countryside Crossing neighborhood and Rockwell Acres mobile home park. 04/24/17
A handful of businesses line the adjacent frontage road system ahead and beyond the Rockwell Road overpass built in 2001. 04/24/17
West from Exit 111, Rockwell Road continues to the Eagle Point and Dove Prairie subdivisions and east to Georgia Street at Mescalero Park. 04/24/17
U.S. 60/87 part ways with Interstate 27 south at forthcoming Exit 110. U.S. 60/87 extend south on a freeway built in the 1950s to the city of Canyon while IH 27 angles southeast along a bypass. 04/24/17
U.S. 87 follows 23rd Street south by West Texas A & M University while U.S. 60 turns west along an expressway to the Deaf Smith County seat of Hereford. 04/24/17
Exit 110 provides full access between IH 27, U.S. 60 and U.S. 87 via a trumpet interchange. U.S. 60 west / U.S. 87 south split at Canyon City in 2.70 miles. 04/24/17
Interstate 27 South
Buffalo Stadium Road (Country Club Road) links IH 27 with adjacent Kimbrough Memorial Stadium, home of Texas A & M University Buffaloes football. 04/24/17
Exit 109 connects IH 27 south to Country Club Road with no return access. Country Club Road leads east to the White Fence Farms neighborhood and Palo Duro Club Lake. 04/24/17
2021 traffic counts drop to 11,655 vehicles per day (vpd) along IH 27 south beyond the split with U.S. 60/87. 04/24/17
Besides suburban development by Exit 116, Interstate 27 south remains rural on the 19 miles leading to the town of Happy. The city center of the Hale County seat of Plainview is 60 miles away, not 63 displayed on this distance sign. 04/24/17
Exit 108 joins Interstate 27 south with FM 3331 (Hunsley Road) at a diamond interchange in a half mile. 04/24/17
Exit 108 leaves IH 27 south for FM 3331 (Hunsley Road) beyond the Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River. TxDOT classifies the 4.16 mile long FM road as a major collector west to U.S. 60/87 in Canyon and east to FM 1541. 04/24/17
Forthcoming SH 217 spurs east from Canyon 13.59 miles to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, where Park Road 5 takes over. 04/24/17
Interstate 27 briefly reenters the Canyon city limits through the diamond interchange (Exit 106) with SH 217. 04/24/17
SH 217 (4th Avenue) travels west from Exit 106 to Texas A & M University. The state highway ends at 11th Street and U.S. 60 (Hereford Highway). 04/24/17
