Beginning at Exit 144, the business route arcs northeast along Lewis Avenue past Pine Avenue, the original alignment of U.S. 66 to 8th Street. Lewis Avenue forms a couplet with Park Avenue eastbound through the Ash Fork business district. The two streets converge over Ash Fork Draw, where a two-wye intersection historically joined U.S. 66 and U.S. 89 from the south. Business Loop I-40 turns southward to rejoin I-40 at the diamond interchange (Exit 146) with SR 89.
