Benson Highway in Tucson was part of U.S. 80 until the route was truncated east from California to Benson in 1977. Business Loop I-10 was then established along a 5.98 mile long section of Benson Highway from Interstate 10 at Exit 262 to Exit 267 in south Tucson.

Business Loop I-10 was decommissioned when the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) relinquished maintenance of Benson Highway northwest from Valencia Road. A 0.33 mile segment of Valencia Road east into the diamond interchange with I-10 remains under state control and inventoried by ADOT as SB010 2.

A separate section of Business Loop I-10 in Tucson was previously assigned to Miracle Mile between Interstate 10 at Exit 255 and Oracle Road, the former alignment of U.S. 80/89. This route was deleted following a recommendation by the ADOT Ad Hoc Committee on Mileposting and Route Numbering on March 26, 1991 associated with the eventual truncation of U.S. 89 north from Nogales to Flagstaff.
